(Bristol, Tennessee) – A big night for Northeast Ohio-based Kaulig Racing, as AJ Allmendinger won the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, also taking home the NASCAR Xfinity Series Regular-Season Championship, edging rival Austin Cindric at both the finish line, and in the championship totals.
Allmendinger finished the race sliding across the finish line, after a collision with Cindric. Allmendinger got the checkered flag, as his car slid first over the finish line. He said to the crowd at Bristol, “It’s frustrating to get hit that hard coming to the checkered, but we are battling for the win and it’s Bristol baby. This is what it’s all about.”
The win by Allmendinger gave him the regular-season title, and tied him with Cindric at the top of the standings for next week’s playoffs at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Kaulig Racing is owned by Northeast Ohio businessman Matt Kaulig.
