The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium recently welcomed a new baby giraffe and named the calf in honor of Matt Kaulig’s daughter, Samantha.

“Sammie” was born on Dec. 9 to Digi, a nine-year-old Masai giraffe that was named by the team at LeafFilter thanks to their support to the zoo.

“The zoo named the calf “Sammie” as a tribute to the daughter of generous donor and founder/owner of Summit County-based LeafFilter®, Matt Kaulig,” according to WKYC. “LeafFilter® proudly named Sammie’s mother Digi previously. The zoo says the Kauligs’ support will help ensure Sammie and all of the Columbus Zoo animals receive top-quality care.”
